We’ve got some exciting Eat Easy news we want to share!

Not long now! The Eat Easy Awards are soon upon us and to celebrate we’ve got an exciting announcement: Smeg has joined Eat Easy as our major sponsor!

We will have some more announcements about our major prizes soon, but if you are interested in submitting your product as part of the inaugural Eat Easy Awards, we recommend that you read on.

Eat Easy is Australia’s newest food and produce award that is dedicated to improving our eating environment. We are inclusive, diverse and approachable and will discover Australia’s best restaurants, producers and chefs guided by the following criteria: Impact on Community, Impact on Environment, Food Quality and Service Quality.

Eat Easy is all about celebrating delicious and responsible food with some of this country’s most respected chefs, producers and food writers on board as judges, as Mark Best (ex-Marque), John Lethlean (The Australian), Karena Armstrong (The Salopian Inn), Valerie Henbest (The Smelly Cheese Shop), Richard Gunner (Feast! Fine Foods) and many more are part of Eat Easy’s inaugural judging team. 


And remember, submissions close on Friday 30 April. So get in quick! The categories and why you should enter are below.

  • Red Meat – Presented by Australian Good Meat, this award will celebrate the outstanding achievements of those individuals, families and businesses that are making a significant contribution to the Australian red meat and livestock industry

  • Grown – Produce in its natural state (e.g. fruits, vegetables, nuts, lentils, beans, seeds, herbs, legumes and native ingredients)

  • Wild Harvested – Produce caught or harvested from the ocean (e.g. fish, oysters, sea urchin, seaweed, abalone, crustaceans, octopus) 

  • Made – Natural produce that has been intervened for an alternative purpose (e.g. cheese, flour, smallgoods, yogurt, jams, honey, oil, cured produce, baked goods, jerky)

  • Bred – Produce that has been bred for consumption (e.g. chicken, pig, duck, kangaroo, quail, eggs, rabbit, camel)

  • Best Chef – The Rare Medium Eat Easy Award for Best Chef recognises the chef with outstanding talent that most thoughtfully and creatively utilises exceptional produce in their venue

  • Hospo Hero – Eat Easy wants to celebrate those who have implemented positive initiatives for the hospitality industry with the award, Hospo Hero. We want to hear from you so you can champion anyone who has implemented an initiative or scheme, no matter how big or small, just as long as it’s had a positive impact.

Why should you enter?

  • Your product will be judged by an expert panel that includes Kris Lloyd (Woodside Cheese Wrights), Emma McCaskill (ex-Magill Estate and Pot by Emma McCaskill), Daniel Motlop (Something Wild), Jared Ingersoll (ex-Danks Street Depot), Emma Shearer (The Lost Loaf), Alyx Gorman (The Guardian), Jaqui Lim (Soi 38 co-owner), Kate Lethlean (The Critic and the Cook), Imogen Czulowski (Africola), Tony Love (food and wine writer) and Rebeca Sullivan (Warndu)

  • You’ll get an invite to the Eat Easy awards party to celebrate with peers in the industry 

  • Winners will get editorial in Easy Mag valued at $2400 as well as interview and editorial opportunities on eateasyawards.com

  • Future collaborative opportunities at Eat Easy events and showcases

  • Recognition by world renowned chefs and food identities

  • Edited and endorsed tasting notes and feedback for each submission that you  can use for any purpose

  • Winners will be included in the National Tasting/Events program throughout 2021/22

  • Branded digital assets provided to the finalists and winners as well as social media coverage across all Eat Easy and Drink Easy platforms and national media platforms
